Video Authoring Tool

Background
Today a variety of tools are available that allow playing of standard movie files. What is missing in most of the tools is interactivity? In many situations, it is desirable to provide a choice to the user to select which clip to be played next giving him/her some control over the sequence of the movie.
This has practical usage in almost every field like education, training, entertainment, self-learning, etc.
The Challenge
Developing an authoring tool within a short period of 3 months was the first challenge. Making the output easily deployable for usage over web and CD was another complicated challenge.
The Solution
The solution we developed uses our own graphics framework developed in .Net to allow diagramming capabilities to the authoring tool. Author can define the video clip diagram using diagramming capabilities like Visio. Full drag-and-drop support is provided in the application. Smart client deployment provided by .Net Framework is used for supporting end user deployment and usage over web and CD.

Practice Management System
We are proud to say that we were part of design, development and Testing of this Client Server Application. Application is being installed at hundreds of clinics and hospitals across USA, serving user base from 1 to 100+ users 24 X 7.
Background:
Till few years back Clinics / hospitals were not computerized completely. Some of the systems were computerized like Patient Record Management and Billing. Rest of the work was still on paper like Claims submission.
The Challenge:
Practitioners were using many software systems to cater to different aspects of Clinic / Hospital operations viz. Patient / practice Management System, Claims Handling System, Medical Records, Appointment Diary System and Inventory Management System. Collating distributed data and churning out reports from these different applications was difficult and time consuming task.

The system also supported Customization of Application for User Interface and additional data requirements of the User. Appointment Scheduling gives different views for day, week and month as well as recurring appointments. Patient Info also includes medical history, insurance information and referral physician details. It also supports Claims forms like CMS-1500 (HCFA 1500) and UB-92.
The application is optimized in such a way that it gives better performance on remote connections / VPN as well.

Route Information System
We are proud that we were part of design, development and Testing of this Client Server Application.
Application is developed for huge complexes where the areas are big and finding a particular location or knowing how to go to the required location becomes difficult e.g. hospitals, universities, shopping malls, train stations, airports, Industrial Parks, IT Companies
Background:
For any visitor to these huge complexes, most of the times, it becomes difficult to find out the desired destination after entering into the complex campus. The visitor keeps inquiring / asking to someone from the building at each corner or turn or floor.
The Challenge:
The challenge was to engineer and create a system which will map the searched / selected destination, show the route map graphically and also allow printing of the mapped route. Other challenge was to give a fully configurable system to the client so that client can use the system independently.
The Solution:
This is an application developed to achieve a complete Route Information System for the desired destinations. The application can be used over normal desktops as well as Touch Screen based Information Desks or Kiosks. The application has following features implemented

ALRS system reveals performance indicators which are very essential for service industry. System is web based and provides very simple and intuitive interface for managing project information, assigning resources and tasks to the projects. Powerful wizard creates planned activities for employees thereby generating activity plan for every employee using templates. Simple interface to update plan and record actual efforts.
Features of ALRS :
Project Managers can define projects, activities and tasks.
Resources can be allocated to each project and task.
Estimated time can be defined for each task and hence for the entire project.
Each resource can then plan his/her day-to-day activities based on the allocation done by the project manager.
Later on each employee can enter the actual tasks performed by him/her against the tasks assigned/planned.
System also records the Check In/out time of the employees.
Based on the actual activities entered by the employees a lot of analytical information can be obtained, such as:

Feature Rich Rule Engine for Practice Management System

Background
The application is a practice management system for use by Optometrists, Ophthalmologists and Opticians. It offers optometric and ophthalmology practices customized electronic medical records, scheduling, billing, insurance, patient demographics, recall, insurance, optical point-of-sale, inventory management, multiple exam layouts, drawing tool, increased security options, referral letters, MS Word Link, Rx Calculator, Scan Link, and much more. Application supports multiple locations in a variety of network configurations. It is a client server application being developed for last one year by team spread across 4 different locations globally. A multilingual application consists of more than 400 rich GUIs.
The Challenge
Application is being used by more than 1000 practitioners in USA and Canada. Every end user has its own requirement, but being a generic product, it's not always possible to implement individual requirement. E.g. For someone Patient Last name should be mandatory and for someone else this could be important field. To achieve such requirement, Rules Manager module is developed. Rules Manager allows end users to define their own rules so that application interaction is quicker and as per users’ expectations. This definitely makes user more comfortable while using the system.
Most complex part was syntax checking of the expression defined by the user and intellisense through which we are opening various screens on type of specific keyword.
The Solution
The Rules Manager is an UI through which the user defines rules within Application. The Rules Engine is a non-UI Layer, which evaluates and responds to rule events, which are raised in the code.
Being a very powerful tool, it allows users to define rules for various events on the screen like save, on leave of a text box, on change of combo box value or enter event of a radio button. Rules Manager not only allows to validate the various controls on the screen but also user can define actions to take like - change value of a control on a screen or in the database, send mail, message, display message box to user, change background or foreground color and so on.
We have used ANTLR for parsing the rules defined by the users. ANTLR means 'ANother Tool for Language Recognition'. It is a language tool that provides a framework for constructing recognizers, compilers, and translators from grammatical descriptions containing Java, C#, C++, or Python actions.

Background
XECOM has worked with one of our clients to build market analysis product. Product is targeted at big trading companies who sale and market their product in very competitive environment, for example, IT equipments and office automation products. For such companies, market is moving and changing very fast. Product life cycle is becoming shorter and shorter. Partners and dealers become competitors overnight. Mergers and acquisitions happen every day.
The Challenge
Company wanted to make informed strategic decisions. Company had legacy CRM system and also employed outside agency to collect market data about product sale and competitors’ information, data being made available in excel sheets. Company wanted to analyze their product performance in various segments, analyze sales patterns and understand customer behavior. Company wanted to analyze the information against various parameters such as industry segment, customer type, their preferences, IT spending, sales persons’ efforts and marketing campaigns.
Organization also wanted product to allow reviewing of key performance indicators, such as Revenue, Cost, Margins, discounts, top x reasons… etc.
The Solution
XECOM provided a Business Objects based Business Intelligence solution to meet these requirements. Our key role was to... Identify key business processes that have high influence on key performance indicators.
Design data mart and lay foundation for complete data warehouse system with conformed dimensions and facts.
Design and build generic ETL framework to support loading of external marketing, financial & product information into staging area Identify data sources from CRM system and load into staging area using ETL tool Staging data is subject to multilevel validation, cleansing, transformation and aggregation against various roles and parameters. Build dimensional model from where analytics are run.
Build natural and customized data mining capabilities to get the patterns. Web scrubbing tool to get latest product, pricing and out of date information
XECOM was also involved in defining security and designing workflow for automatic document refresh and collaboration. Solution includes custom reports and queries and architecture to support analytics on the management dashboard. XECOM also implemented a scoring and predictive model to provide 360° View of customer and sales executive performance.
